Drainage channels

For drainage of the sports field there are several types of gutters, which are used for different purposes.

• Drainage channels: The gutter for drainage of sports facilities is manufactured in various designs. Drainage channels come in straight or curved design and with or without lawn edge. This allows all areas of the sports field to be easily equipped with drainage channels.
• Slot gutters: With a slot gutter, the water only runs into a narrow slot. This makes the gutter very discreet on the surface and less visible than the normal drainage channels. The gutter is manufactured both with and without a finishing edge.
• Trough channels: Due to their shallow depth, trough gutters have the characteristic that the drainage capacity is relatively low compared to drainage gutters or slot gutters. Therefore, inlet boxes are installed at regular intervals to catch the water that runs off. The trough channels from artec® are manufactured both with and without crimping groove.
• Drainage channels for artificial turf fields: The drainage channels are manufactured specifically for artificial turf fields and offer the advantage that the turf can simply be clamped into the channel with the help of a grid. As a result, the gutter and the lawn are firmly connected to each other, so that the lawn can not be moved.

Sand traps

Sand traps are used on the sports field at long jump facilities. They are used to catch the sand that is unintentionally carried out of the long jump area by the athletes. With the help of the sand traps, the sand from the jump pit is caught so that it does not get onto the running track. This prevents further prevents.

Plastic gutters: The plastic sand traps are made of high quality polypropylene (bottom part of the gutter). The frame is still made of galvanized steel. The metal edge makes it easy to create a nice connection with the plastic surface of the running track. A possibility of drainage has already been prefabricated, so the gutter can be easily connected to a drainage system. The sand traps come with a cover consisting of a grating including a permanently mounted rubber mat. The rubber mat contributes to the safety of athletes and protects against injuries.

The plastic sand traps are characterized by the fact that they are made of 100% recycled polypropylene. The material used is very unbreakable and at the same time elastic. In addition, the plastic is UV-resistant, environmentally neutral and waterproof. Frost resistance and resistance to de-icing salt are also given. Due to the low weight, they can still be transported and mounted quickly and easily.

Polymer concrete sand traps also come with a steel edge and a steel mesh cover. This is also equipped with an overlying rubber mat.

The standard used sand traps made of polymer concrete has the following dimensions: 1000 mm / 500 mm / 140 mm. Additional elements are offered for length compensation:

• 670 mm / 500 mm / 140 mm
• 1120 mm / 500 mm / 140 mm

Polymer concrete is characterized by the fact that forms a very smooth surface, which is waterproof. The water penetration depth is thus 0 mm, while the water absorption is 0.05%. In addition, the material is heat resistant up to 100 °C and frost resistant down to -50 °C. The weight of polymer concrete is lower than cement concrete, which makes it easier to transport and install than conventional concrete. Polymer concrete also has a very high strength. Despite all the positive properties of the material, polymer concrete is relatively vulnerable to impact.

Realization of jump pits

With the help of the various elements, jumping pits of different dimensions can be realized – also according to IAAF specifications. Depending on the project, the installation can be single-row or double-row. A double row installation results in additional protection against excessive contamination of the runway.
