The art started over 30 years ago…
More than 30 years ago, Doris and Roland Gröschel’s desire for independence and their passion for sports gave rise to the idea of setting up their own business in the construction of sports equipment. After a pleasant get-together in in a beer garden, the name artec – a combination of art (art) and tec (technology) – was soon decided.
The company artec started with 5 employees and was located in Bielefeld-Sennestadt at the very beginning. Due to the increasing tennis boom in the 80s and 90s, during the founding phase artec was mainly concerned with tennis products.
Established materials – new ideas.
New times required innovations and decisions. The tennis boom subsided – and artec expanded its product range with numerous other products from the world of sports. In Germany the Berlin Wall fell – and artec seized the opportunity and conquered the East German market. The first contacts and resulting long-term friendships in the new federal states were particularly defining for the founder Roland Gröschel.
Following the motto “when one door closes, another one opens”, artec continuously developed new ideas and concepts. The slowly growing team did not shy away from new product categories and markets. Always in the focus of all thinking and acting was a high functionality of the sports equipment. artec relied from the beginning on high-grade materials and high quality.
Professionalism and professionalization
In the meantime, artec has grown to a company with more than 30 employees. So artec seems to have mastered the art of building sports equipment. Indeed, not only the company has grown, but also the sports facilities supplied became larger over time. The artec quality has proven itself on the market. To this end, the sports equipment has undergone a number of tests – it is now TÜV-certified and has various important certificates (World Athletics, DVV).
The high quality standards are increasingly appreciated abroad. That is why sports equipment from artec is located all over the world and has been shipped to Lanzarote or Saudi Arabia, for example.
Today & Tomorrow
Sustainability takes up a prominent position at artec today. We build sports equipment that will last tomorrow.
artec is setting itself up for the future and is equipped for constant further development. In 2021, the new office building and the expansion of the production hall were completed. Our sports equipment is technically up to date and is manufactured with the latest machines. At the same time, internal processes are optimized and digitalization is advanced. For example, artec now operates its own online store and enables convenient sports equipment shopping by mouse click.
artec is preparing for the future and is ready for ongoing development.
