Take-off board for long jump

If you want to achieve top results in the long jump, it’s all about technique. But it is not only the athlete’s technique that is important. Especially during the competition, the technical conditions of the take-off boards for long jump are also extremely important. This is the only way to guarantee that the jumping conditions are always the same for all athletes, even under high loads.

With take-off boards it depends on the technique!

The applicable regulations define a large number of technical requirements that must be observed for the components of a drop zone. Some of these specifications are listed below:

  • …must provide a secure grip for the athletes’ shoes and prevent slipping.
  • …must be fixed in the appropriate foundation trough.

  • …need a suitable device for lifting the boards out of the foundation trough.

Take-off board for long jump directly from the manufacturer – artec®.

The take-off boards for long jump from artec® are manufactured according to the applicable requirements of DIN 79005:2017-4 and the rules of World Athletics (previously IAAF). Based on these specifications, the artec® team at the company site in Melle continuously develops the take-off boards. This means that customers can be offered an optimal product at all times.

Assembly instructions for artec® turning boards

The take-off board as a turning board consists of several components and can be used for three different applications. Thus, the turning board from artec® is a real all-rounder. Despite 3-fold use, all variants have the highest quality. Switching between the options is easy and, above all, fast with the help of the special tools supplied, so that waiting times caused by changing over the take-off boards for long jump are reduced to a minimum. The following explanations show how easy the installation and conversion is.

Competition board

Option 1: Competition board

World Athletics certification makes our take-off board in this option suitable for competitions.

To assemble the competition board, first place the narrow board in the foundation trough. As can be seen in the pictures, the next step is to hook the lifting hooks included in the delivery into the fixtures of the wide board. The fixtures also comply with the applicable specifications. Accordingly, they may have a maximum diameter of 20 mm and be located in the area of less than 500 mm to the right and left of the run-up track axis.

The hooks can be used as handles, which guarantees the smooth insertion of the board. The removal of the board is just as simple in the same way.

Assembly instructions competition board

As the specifications show, take-off boards must be fixed in the foundation trough. The artec® take-off boards therefore have a special technical bracing design . This makes the board sure-footed and also reduces the athletes’ risk of slipping. As shown in the pictures, the internal locking device is clamped in the foundation trough with the hexagon of the special wrench.

The black infill profile for indicating over stepping is inserted into the provided recess of the take-off boards at the end. The infill profile is built so sturdily that it can withstand the forces acting on it at any time during take-off. In addition, the surface is absolutely non-slip. The take-off board for competitions is now already fully assembled.

Training board

Option 2: Training board / take-off board for school sports

In this option, the take-off board is suitable for school sports and training sessions. The conversion is carried out again with the enclosed special tools.

To assemble the training board, first place the wide board back into the installation tray using the hooks. Unlike the competition board, the surface of a training board is partly made of running track surface. For this purpose, the narrow board of the artec® turning board is coated on one side with raceway coating.

Mounting instructions training board

In order to be able to place the narrow board in the installation trough, the special keys are turned into the threaded devices (see pictures). This means that the special keys can now also be used as handles and the board problems can be inserted.

The prescribed tensioning of the take-off board in the installation trough can be carried out without changing tools, because the special wrench has an integrated hexagon with which the board is locked and tensioned.

Blank board

Option 3: Blank board

As a third option, the artec® take-off board allows the use as a blank board.

Mounting instructions blank board

For this purpose, the wide board is placed in the foundation trough with the raceway covering facing upwards. Likewise, when inserting the narrow strip with the help of the special keys, the raceway lining points upwards.

Two integrated locking bolts allow the board to be clamped in the foundation trough with the hexagon of the special wrench in the final installation step. This makes the artec® blank board absolutely sure-footed and vibration-free, so that it offers optimal conditions for the athletes when they run over it. Thus, the change from the training or competition board to the blank board can be made quickly and easily.
